Field Trip and Dinner Meeting - Herkimer Diamonds. Field trip focus is on high accuracy mapping, structural Geology and stratigraphy of the Little Falls Dolostone and quartz bearing zones. Evening presentation expands on field trip content.

AIPG-NE SECTION FALL MEETING 2013 with NYSCPG

The Fall Meeting of the Northeast Section of the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG-NE) will be held jointly with the New York State Council of Professional Geologists (NYSCPG) on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the New York State Museum in Albany. The local group which is based in Albany, the Hudson-Mohawk Professional Geologists Association, also will join us and hold its October monthly dinner meeting with AIPG-NE and NYSCPG.
This special event coincides with the Open House for the New York State Museum and Geological Survey which will serve as the venue for our field trip, fall meeting, dinner, and evening program. This meeting will truly be a unique opportunity to assemble regional geologists throughout the northeast with local, NYS-wide, and NYS Geological Survey personnel. The activities available to all members will include touring the NYS Museum exhibits including gems and minerals, attending the AIPG-NE Fall Meeting, networking among fellow geologists during a cash bar reception, and enjoying a catered dinner and evening presentation in the backdrop of Adirondack Hall.
We currently are coordinating with Museum personnel to have a guided tour of geological-related exhibits during the afternoon field trip. The Fall Meeting will take place during the mid-late afternoon (TBD), followed by a social hour from
5 to 6 PM, dinner from 6 to 7 PM, and the evening presentation starting at 7 PM.
NYSCPG President John Nadeau will present the legislative status of the bill to regulate the practice of geology in NYS; including discussing licensure of individuals, relationships to other design professionals, and what it means to geologists and professional entities and corporations practicing in New York State. You won’t want to miss this informative professional and networking event – stay tuned for more informative via email as the schedule is finalized.
